  • Abstract
In dentistry, establishing a permanent bond between resin and tooth structure is essential for successful tooth restoration. While various factors affect bond strength, adhesive application time is often overlooked. This study investigated how the adhesive application time affects the bond strength between micro-filled resin and enamel when using 3M One Bond Universal Adhesive. Forty premolars were randomly selected. They were divided into four groups (10 in each group). They underwent 5, 10, 15, and 20 seconds of adhesive application time followed by a curing process. Shear bond strength was evaluated using a testing machine. There was a significant positive correlation between the application time of the adhesion promoter and shear bond strength. The group with the longest bonding time (20 seconds) had the highest mean shear bond strength (X MPa). Adequate bonding time is essential for optimal bond strength between composite resin and enamel. To ensure the long-term success of composite restorations, dentists should follow the manufacturer’s recommendations on the duration of bonding application.
