An unprecedented layered (2-D) honeycomb supramolecular structure comprised of ((mu)4-(sigma)-dimerized 7,7,8,8tetracyano-p-quinodimethane dianion bridging four S = 2 substituted Mn(III)porphyrins as demonstrated with mesotetrakis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)porphyrinato has been structural characterized.
