Abstract :
Some ruthenium(II) complexes of an alcohol ligand tethered to (eta)-arene group have been prepared. The alcohol-Ru chelate bond of the complexes containing an N,Nʹ-chelate auxiliary was maintained in methanol. The Cl ion cleaved the alcohol-Ru bond to give the Ru-Cl bond, while bases (OHʹ, RNH2) abstracted proton of OH bound to Ru affording the alkoxy chelate complex.
