Abstract :
A series of novel oligothiophenes, trimer, hexamer, nonamer, and dodecamer, attached with benzyl ether dendrons at the molecular sides has been developed. Since the dendron pendants prevent the formation of (pi)-dimers, the electronic absorption spectra of the dodecamer under doping reveal the involvement of chain dimers and bipolarons as other possible charge carrier species for conductive polythiophenes.
