Abstract
A new organically templated cadmium chlorophosphate, (C3H6N2)[Cd2Cl2(HPO4)2] (C3H6N2 = diprotonated imidazole) with a novel layered structure, was synthesized hydrothermally in the presence of imidazole as a structure-directing agent. This is the first example of a cadmium chlorophosphate with polymeric chains that consist of Cd–O/Cl–Cd units.
