Abstract :
(beta)-Amino–(beta)ʹ-hydroxy ketones were synthesized by the aldol reaction of aldehydes with samarium enolates generated by aziridine fragmentation of aryl or alkyl aziridinyl ketones with two moles of samarium(II) iodide.
