Abstract
The dispersion of ions and charged particles in mass analyzers of Awidely varying types as a fundamental component of the method of Ameasuring masses is reviewed. The theory of spatial and time Adispersion by magnetic and electric analyzers, and also analyzers with Acombined magnetic and electric fields of all types is discussed. In Aaddition to the well known concepts of mass analysis, recent Atheoretical developments are discussed, including new practical proposals filed as inventions.
