Abstract :
The present-day status of fiber-optical communication techniques in high-energy physics experiments and accelerator technology is considered. Parameters of such optoelectronic elements as optical fibers, transmitters and receivers of optical radiation are described. Data are given which characterize variation in optoelectronics parameters under hard ionizing radiation typical of future Large Hadron Collider (LHC) experiments. Successful use of fiber-optical digital and analog communication systems for monitoring and controlling ion sources of linear accelerators at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) Laboratory of High Energies (LHE) accelerator complex is illustrated.
