Abstract :
Using an expansion technique, solitons close together are studied in different field theoretical models. The static vortex solutions of the Ginzburg-Landau theory are given as expansions up to third order in the separation parameters, in the case of two vortices close together. We find a simple angular dependence in terms of trigonometric functions and study the radial functions which occur up to third order. These results are compared to those of a model for one complex field. How the expansions can be used to describe the dynamics with the help of the slow-motion approximation is explained using the example of the CP^2 solitons.
