Abstract :
As a part of research on new organic electro-optic and non-linear optical materials, N-(2-chlorophenyl)-(l-propanamide) has been synthesized by the standard method. The synthesized material is purified by repeated crystallization. Single crystals of N-(2chlorophenyl)-(l-propanamide) were grown by the slow evaporation technique. The grown crystals were transparent and were of optimum dimensions (20x5x5xmm). The grown crystals were characterized by UV-Vis, IR, NMR and powder XRD techniques. The SHG of the crystals was measured using ND :YAG laser (landa =1064 nm).
