On a comparison of objective function in optimal design of flexible production line with the unreliable machines

To reach maximal profit, the optimal layout of a production line is considered by using both traditional machines and flexible machines. A mixed integer-programming model is constructed and the step-by-step algorithm to solve this problem is also developed. In addition, it is discussed that the operation cost of a machine doesnʹt include the idle or break-down situation while the maintenance cost for a broken machine should be considered, is proposed to extend the field of applicability in this study.
