Abstract :
The present paper is devoted to the consideration of one of the applied analytical methods for the analysis of composite shells of revolution operating under axisymmetric loading conditions. The variant of the boundary-layer theory was developed on the basis of the approach allowing for the transverse shear strain. The transverse shear strain has been introduced as a result of the implementation of a specific averaging procedure in order to take into account the major features of the composite shell design. One of such characteristics is the possible substantial inhomogeneity of the shell wall structure throughout the thickness, which could be predetermined by the layered type of the material distribution. The theory was built up using the assumptions appropriate for the problem under consideration and typical for the boundary-layer solutions. An example of the application of the proposed technique was considered for the two-layered hybrid composite shell fabricated by the filamentwinding.
