A new and improved roadmap

In December 1997 the new version of the National Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (NTRS) was released to the public. The NTRS has a position of such importance in the electronics community that Circuits and Devices Magazine has decided to dedicate much of this issue to a “behind the scenes” description of the key issues associated with the roadmap. It is shown that the NTRS provides the high-level vision necessary to facilitate future advancements in semiconductor technology
