Abstract :
The purpose of this presentation was to show how CAD tools can be used through the Internet, and the SPICE Internet package (SIP) is just an example of using SPICE. Several features make the SIP a desirable program for computer-aided engineering and design. Only one copy of the SPICE engine needs to be installed and configured. One machine acts as the server and other machines can simultaneously access the SPICE engine through network connections. Remote access to SIP allows users to run SPICE simulations from any computer on the network, whether it be from home or another office in another building or town. Also the current SPICE engine used is SPICE3f5 from Berkeley, which allows an unlimited number of transistors

This month , but it isinstructive to reconsider their existenceand potential. On the “pro” side of the debateon the value ofweb-based simulationtools are (1) the ease with which CAD vendorscan manage centralized tools , and(2) the availability of standard browsersthat facilitates tool portability. On the“con” side , (A) web tools are not practicalfor situations requiring transfer and storageofvery large datab , ases , and (B) unlessthe tools are confined to intranets , securityand integrity of data can be problematic. In any case , theria is a large value toCAD developers and users to have readyaccess to emerging simulation tools , the Simulation& Modeling column features an articleby John Regriier and BogdanWilamowski from the University ofWyoming that illustrates a web-basedCAD tool. Such tools are not new
