Abstract
The behaviour of wettable and nonwettable filters in filtration processes has been extensively studied. Different aspects of the process were considered including, mechanisms of drainage of liquids from filtersʹ surfaces for the wettable and nonwettable filters, performance of combined wettable/nonwettable filters and processes of the removal of viscous particles by wettable fibrous media. However, in many applications, liquid particles can be accompanied by solid ones. In cases of insufficient liquid irrigation, solid particles can cause clogging of the filter and unplanned, costly shut down of technologies for the maintenance. Here, the results of the investigation of the possibility of clogging of wet filters utilized for the removal of solid particles are presented and further steps towards design of industrial filters are discussed.
