Abstract :
A DC-link voltage boosting circuit and its switching control to speed up the current tracking response of a switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive are described. First, the governing equations of a typical SRM are formulated, and a computer simulation environment based on Simulink and Powersys is established to facilitate the analysis and design of the SRM drive system. Then an active DC-link voltage boosting circuit and its switching control scheme are developed to reduce the effect of the back electromagnetic force (EMF) on the current tracking response, particularly at hgh speeds. ln addition, a robust current controller is designed to render current tracking response less sensitive to inductance variation which is dependent on rotor position. The performances of the proposed circuit and controller are demonstrated by simulation and experimental results.
