Abstract :
Interaction between bubbles for the simple case of a small spherical
bubble in the vicinity of a much larger bubble-both rising in stationary
liquid-with no mass transfer between liquid and vapor phases, has been
studied numerically. The effect of the motion of the larger bubble on the
dynamics of the smaller bubble has been determined both for completely
spherical, and for spherical cap shaped large bubbles. The complicated
motion of the smaller bubble, as it is entrained in the wake of the larger bubble,
is clearly seen. This simple model of bubble-bubble interaction-that predicts
the essential features observed in experiment--can be used in the
computer simulation of individual-particle-tracking method (Lagrangian
approach) of two-phase flow analysis
