Abstract :
The heuristically based generalized perturbation theory (HGPT) methodology has been
extensively used in the last decades for analysis studies in the nuclear reactor field. As well known, its use
leads to fundamental reciprocity relationships from which perturbation, or sensitivity expressions can
be derived, to first and higher order, in terms of simple integration operation of quantities calculated at
unperturbed system conditions. Its application to subcritical, source-driven systems, now considered with
increasing interest in many laboratories for their potential use as nuclear waste burners and/or safer
energy producers, is here commented, with particular emphasis to problems implying an intensive
system control variable
