Abstract :
ÐAboundary element method (BEM) for the solution of multigroup multiregion 2D
neutron diusion problems is presented. The method rests upon a partial current formulation
of BEM equations which allows for a natural link with the response matrix technique. The
energy group treatment is based on a diagonalization procedure. The aim of the present
work is to show the BEMʹs capability of obtaining very accurate and highly detailed
solutions of reasonably realistic diusion problems. The numerical applications at the end
of the paper show that such a goal can be achieved although further research is necessary
in order to make the BEMʹs computational eciency comparable with that of the finite
element method
