Abstract :
ÐAboundary element method (BEM) for the solution of multigroup multiregion 2D neutron di€usion problems is presented. The method rests upon a partial current formulation of BEM equations which allows for a natural link with the response matrix technique. The energy group treatment is based on a diagonalization procedure. The aim of the present work is to show the BEMʹs capability of obtaining very accurate and highly detailed solutions of reasonably realistic di€usion problems. The numerical applications at the end of the paper show that such a goal can be achieved although further research is necessary in order to make the BEMʹs computational eciency comparable with that of the finite element method
