Abstract :
Elemental hafnium neutron total cross sections are measured from ≈0.75 to 4.5 MeV in steps of ≈40 keV. Differential neutron elastic-scattering cross sections are measured from ≈4.5 to 10.0 MeV in ≈0.5 MeV steps and at 40 scattering angles distributed between ≈17 and 160°. These data are combined with those found in the literature to construct a comprehensive experimental data base which is interpreted in terms of coupled-channels models. Physical characteristics of the resulting potentials are discussed. Comparisons are made with ENDF/B-6 (MAT 7200). A detailed report of this work is given by Smith (Smith, A., 2001. Argonne National Laboratory Report ANL/NDM-153).
