Abstract
A numerical algorithm (CORE) was developed to solve the point kinetics equations of nuclear reactors. It is very easy to implement and it is accurate. It generates results consistent with relatively recent numerical methods and shows better accuracy and less sensitivity (to the integration time) than the standard Runge–Kutta (4th order) method as expected. Three sets of applications were computed: reactivity as a function of the neutron density, sinusoidal reactivity and ramp reactivity.
