Abstract
The efficacies of a water-soluble fraction (WSF) of rice polish or a solution of pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6) were tested against the two important plant parasitic nematodes, the root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita) and the reniform nematode (Rotylenchulus reniformis). At the time of transplantation of tomato seedlings, bare roots were dipped in different concentrations of the above solutions for 30 min, then transplanted. The treatments with higher concentrations resulted in improved plant growth in the uninoculated controls. Growth retardations caused by inoculated root-knot or reniform nematodes were smaller than those of the untreated controls.
