Generalized conservation checks in finite element analysis

By generalizing the conservation of energy statement in classical mechanics, a useful and relatively simple approach has been developed for checking the conservation requirements in nite element analysis. By way of illustration several examples are provided from elds of stress analysis, heat transfer and uid ow.
