Abstract
Using the generalized di erential quadrature (GDQ) method which is an improved version of the di erential
quadrature (DQ) method, this paper examines the in
uence of initial pressure load on the free vibration
of a rotating thin truncated circular isotropic conical shell with di erent boundary conditions. The present
governing equations of motion include the in
uence of initial stress eld and the e ects of initial hoop
tension and also the centrifugal and coriolis accelerations due to rotation. The in
uence of initial pressure
on the frequency characteristics is discussed in detail for various conditions. To validate the present analysis,
frequency comparisons are made with those available in published works, and very good agreements are
obtained
