Abstract
In this paper the numerical solution for ideal irrotational incompressible ow around axisymmetric 3D
obstacles is discussed with the arti cial boundary method. By introducing an arti cial boundary, we
divide the exterior unbounded domain into a bounded part and an unbounded part. After setting up a
proper arti cial boundary condition, we get an approximate reduced problem de ned on the bounded
part. Both non-local and local arti cial boundary conditions are designed. Numerical experiment is also
presented, and its result demonstrates the e ectiveness of these arti cial boundary conditions
