Cis ε-viniferin: A New Antifungal Resveratrol Dehydrodimer from Cyphostemma crotalarioides Roots

Six antifungal co nstituents were isola ted frolll the roots of CypllUslel1lma {ʹfola/arioitles (Vitaccac): a new product. Cis-l>vin iferin 3, along with five known compounds: frans-rcsvcratrol I and its oligomers: trallS 6-vinifcrin 2. gne tin C 4, pallidol 5 and gnetin E 6. It is the first time Stich compounds have been reported in this plum species. The roots ti ss ues were found Lo be rich in o ther rcsvcralro l o ligomers. however, the available amounts of the ot her pu rified products dill not a llow strUClUrc investigations. No fungicidal acti vity was detected in the leaves of this plant.
