Abstract :
The susceptibility of barley doubled haploids "DH# to
Fusarium head blight "FHB# was investigated[ Heads of
13 DH lines "00 two!rowed and 02 six!rowed# derived
from F0 Maresi "two!rowed# Pomo "six!rowed#
hybrids were inoculated with a conidial suspension of
the single isolate IPO237 90 of Fusarium culmorum[ The
experiment was carried out in three consecutive years
"0885 87# in one location[ The number of kernels per
ear\ 0999!kernel weight and kernel weight per ear were
recorded in inoculated and control plots[ In the infected
kernels nivalenol "NIV# content and deoxynivalenol
"DON# content were determined[ The e}ects of genotypeyear and genotype year interaction on reduction of yield
traits were signi_cant[ For mycotoxin content only geno!
type and year e}ects were found to be important[ The
average NIV concentration in kernels of inoculated lines
ranged from 9[04 mg:kg in the two!rowed line MP6 to
5[25 mg:kg in the six!rowed line MP002[ A low accumu!
lation of DON was observed in the studied population
"from 9[90 to 9[19 mg:kg#[ Generally\ no signi_cant
di}erences in mycotoxin content were found between
two!rowed and six!rowed genotypes[ The line MP6 was
found to be superior with the lowest mycotoxin
accumulation\ and reduction in yield traits[ Environ!
mental conditions "years# a}ected DON and NIV level
in kernels^ however\ the tendency to a lower or higher
accumulation of mycotoxin in individual lines was stable
over the years
