Abstract :
The Damt thermal springs "39 34>C#\ ~owing through travertine deposits\ belong to the Na HCO2 type of water\ and have higher pCO1 " from 0[07 to 9[47 PCO1 from 9[96 to 9[15 atm# relative to cold Ca SO3 "Cl# groundwaters[ The cold waters have pCO1 ranging from 0[75 to 1[49 " PCO1 from 9[903 to 9[9924 atm#[ The chemical composition of the cold springs is controlled by evaporite deposits present in the Tawilah sandstone and Amran limestone formations\ while simple crustal dissolution\ coupled with CO1!rich ~uid rock inter! action control the chemical signature of the hot spring waters[ The temperature of the feeding system\ based on the K1:Mg geothermometer\ varies between 79 and 019>C[ Damt thermal springs appear to be related to a 09\999 year!old volcanic activity that led to the appearance of several craters in the area[ 0888 CNR[ Published by Elsevier Science Ltd[ All rights reserved[
