The relationship between domestic savings and investment: The Feldstein-Horioka test using Japanese regional data

The Feldstein-Horioka test on capital mobility applies to Japanese intra-national capital flows. We find that savings and investment are insignificantly correlated. This suggests that the high correlation observed by the previous studies is due to the currency premium.
