U.S. International air route awards and shareholder wealth

This study presents a timely empirical analysis of the value of the U.S. governmentʹs subsidy of U.S. domestic air carriers via the use of exclusive, zero-priced allocations of available international air routes. The results of the study conservatively estimate the value of this subsidy to equal almost $3 billion over the 1963–1993 time period
