The asymptotic distribution of linear indices of inequality, progressivity and redistribution

I derive in this paper the asymptotic sampling distribution of popular linear indices of the distribution and redistribution of income, making it possible to apply these indices statistically on micro-data. A two-parameter sub-class of linear measures is then used in an illustration with Canadian data.
