Abstract :
Consumer behaviour in differentiated product markets can be specified following the Lancastrian characteristics approach or following Hotellingʹs approach of spatial competition. In the case of unit demand I present a class of models of (heterogeneous) consumer behaviour which can be written as models à la Lancaster as well as models à la Hotelling.
