Willingness to pay, the risk premium and risk aversion

In this paper we compare the properties of two concepts that are often used to value risk transformations: The willingness to pay (W.T.P.) and the risk premium. We show that—in contrast to a widespread belief—some properties of the risk premium are not shared by W.T.P.
