Generating conditional expectations from models with selectivity bias: comment

Plugging identical values of the Millsʹ ratio into estimates of selectivity-adjusted wage regressions for men and women generates wage predictions that pertain to men and women with identical unobserved characteristics only under highly restrictive conditions. This calls into question the suggestion of Vella (1988) and the details of several gender gap decomposition studies.
