Why is income inequality so low in China compared to other countries?: The effect of household survey methods

Many studies suggest that income inequality in China is comparatively low. But if income inequality in urban China was measured using monthly income, as in many other countries, it would be from 17 to 69% higher, depending on the inequality measure used.
