One-sided population monotonicity, separability, and the uniform rule

The uniform rule is the best-known solution for the problems of allocating an infinitely divisible commodity among a group of agents with single-peaked preferences. We present characterizations of the uniform rule without explicitly imposing the axiom of Pareto optimality.
