Inverted U-shaped fertility dynamics, the poverty trap and growth

This paper shows that the fertility rate increases at low income levels but decreases at high income levels, using a model that incorporates the trade-off between the quantity and quality of children. We also show that the increase in public expenditure for basic education may lower the risk of the economy converging to a poverty trap.
