Abstract :
A mathematical model has been developed for the prediction of the collection efficiency of submicron particles in the conduit type scrubber. The model is based on the material balance for dust over the differential volume and force balance over the liquid droplet. By solving the obtained equations, the effect of changes of drop velocity and diameter on the collection efficiency can be evaluated. A pilot scale plant has been used for testing the mathematical model. Submicron particles have been generated by spraying a solution of methylene blue. The distribution of particles has been measured by an electrical aerosol sixe analyzer. The model has been tested by experimental data and good agreement between predicted values and experimental data has been observed.
