The impact of virtual bidding on price volatility in New Yorkʹs wholesale electricity market

This paper examines the impact that virtual bidding has had on price volatility in the New York State wholesale electricity market. Virtual bidding is found to be associated with reduced volatility in both the Day Ahead and Real Time markets.
