Abstract :
Major, trace and REE composition of Ab-Band Mn ore indicate that Mn deposition is the result of the interaction of several contributing factors. The most likely source for Mn is the basaltic pillow lavas of the Neyriz area. The hydrothermally derived Mn was hydrogenously precipitated at the depositional site after mixing with terrigenous Fe and Al, and some biogenetically derived Si. The deposition which has taken place in a rather quiet environment of moderate to considerable depth was a rapid process of a rhythmic nature. In regard to the sites of discharge of the hydrothermal Mn component, Ab-Band ores must be considered exhalative distal.
