Abstract
Microbial deterioration of metal cutting fluid after dilution with water in a cutting system was significantly controlled with the use of bioddes. Bioddes, such as glutaraldehyde, were introduced to cutting machines at exact intervals. The effectiveness of glutaraldehyde was determined by colony count method. For all the biocide application rates tested, the efficacy of antimicrobial control was found to vary widely with its treatment pattern. Glularaldehyde treatment at higher concentration and a less frequent dose was more effective than low level and frequent dose. Favorable results were obtained in the case of monthly treatment with glutaraldehyde at 300 ppm.
