Abstract :
A formulation, based on the application of the Cauchy Integral in an infinite strip, is used to generate boundary-fitted, orthogonal grids for twodimensional (and axially symmetric) internal flow fields with smooth boundaries. For a two-dimensional potential flow extending from x = -oo to x = +oo, application of the Cauchy Integral along with the slip condition at the boundaries results in two integro-differential equations (boundary integrals) for the geometry of the physical upper and lower flow boundaries in the complex potential plane. Numerical solution of these equations provides the y-values along the boundaries, which arc then used to calculate x and y values at interior grid points. Boundaryfitted, orthogonal grids for several flow examples are presented.
