Lead battery markets and recycling in Mexico and South America

A review is presented of the automotive markets in Latin America and their dependence on the lead produced in the region. It is found that Latin America markets have still a long way to go to reach acceptable stabilization and maturity. Environmental aspects are a very sensitive area and business strategies must be redirected towards saving the pollution problems that are inherently associated with the processing of lead.
