Abstract :
This paper describes the recent US Army battery and charger programs aimed at providing lighter, large-size communications-type primary and rechargeable batteries that operate over a wide temperature range. It also discusses recent programs aimed at providing for forward charging of batteries, both in vehicles and with systems suitable for a foot soldier.
