Total syntheses of sesquiterpenes and diterpenes involving aryl participated cyclisations

A brief review is provided of the recent syntheses of sesquiterpenes and diterpenes accomplished in the authorʹs laboratories which serve to underscore the synthetic power of aryl participated cyclisations. The methodology is concerned principally with (a) intramolecular anionic cyclisation of phenols, and (b) acid-induced aryl participated cyclisation of diazoincthyl ketones.
