Abstract :
two-dimensional boundary element formulation, which does not require domain discretization and allows a single-region analysis, is presented for transient thermoelastic crack problems. The formulation is based on the dual boundary element method; temperature and displacement equations are used on one crack surface, flux and traction equations on the other. Time is modelled with linear time elements. Stress intensity factors are calculated using the path independent j-integral. Several crack problems are solved and the results
