Primary alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma of the breast in a 16-year-old female patient

An extremely rare case of an alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma in the breast of a 16-year-old girl is presented. The main difficulty was the diagnosis before surgery. Strong positive reaction to desmin in immunohistochemical examinations was helpful in the histopathological diagnosis. Despite an unfavourable prognosis in this type of rhabdomyosarcoma, the patient has been free of disease since surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy, performed in 1990–1991.
