Abstract
Recent research in England, Australia and the U.S.A. suggests that the Eysenck Personality Questionnaireʹs (EPQ) Lie Scale reflects two distinct components. The present study is a cross-cultural examination of the dual nature of the Lie Scale using a sample of 122 female and 124 male Japanese university undergraduates. The supposed dual nature of the Lie Scale was not supported. The likely cultural specificity of the two components as well as internal consistency issues of the Lie Scale were discussed.
