Abstract :
In several experiments Singh (Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, 65, 292–307, 1993a; Human Nature, 4, 297–321, 1993b; Personality and Individual Differences, 16, 123–132, 1994; Singh & Luis, Human Nature, 6, 51–65, 1995) presented evidence that the attractiveness of the female figure is related to the waist-to-hip ratio and the apparent overall body weight. The present paper presents a replication and extension of the Singh studies. Both female and male figures are considered. In addition to different aspects of physical attractiveness, the so called Big Five factors of personality are considered. Both similarities and differences between the Singh studies and the present study are discussed.
