Design and Test Specifications for Local Tendon Anchorage Zones

This paper describes the background and development of the current American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) recommendations for the design and testing of the local anchorage zone for posttensioning tendons. The AASHTO local zone provisions have been adopted by reference in Section 18.15.1 of ACI 318-99. The AASHTO provisions were developed as part of an extensive anchorage zone study that investigated the behavior of both the local and general zones.
